Our
OUR CONCERTS
Staging our annual concert has been synonymous with our choral development since the choir began in 1979. The concerts remain as a largely student-driven project as they take charge in various ways, from the music to the logistics and publicity preparation, while guided by the conductor and teachers.
OUR REFLECTIONS
A staple today in the TJC Performing Arts calendar, Reflections is the TJChoir’s annual concert series that began in 1999 under the choral direction of Ms Jennifer Tham. It is a culmination of all that the choir has learnt and accomplished in the past year and is an exuberant showcase of the choir’s passion for choral music. The musicals are also a popular part of the concert, testing the choir's ability to perform not only through song, but dance and acting as well. The concert series celebrated its 20th edition in 2019. Looking back, the concert series has led us on a wondrous musical adventure and spotlights the growth of our community over the years under Ms Jennifer Tham for over two decades, while charting our symphonious journey ahead with our current conductor, Ms Choy Siew Woon.
WE SING! AS ONE
We believe that a wonderful way to bring together people of different backgrounds and bond them in spirit is when we SING! Inspired to further this cause, we created SING! in 2017, a choir exchange and concert series helmed by the TJChoir that provides a space for Singapore school choirs to share good practices and choral techniques, and simultaneously share their love for choral music with one another. With four successful runs under our belt, we treasure the memories and harmonies that we have formed with participating choirs from various ages, backgrounds and cultures. And continue to take pride in being part of ONE larger singing family.
OUR TRAVELS
Travelling overseas to participate in choral festivals has been an integral part of the TJChoir experience as we pit ourselves against some of the world's best choirs. Some of the choir's highest achievements recently include being awarded Gold and finalists at the Grand Prix Round of the 42nd Festival of Songs in Olomouc, Czech Republic (2014) and Belt & Road World Choir Festival in Hong Kong, China (2018).

Beyond the competitive element, the trips are immense learning opportunities for the choir as we participate in workshops and masterclasses with renowned clinicians, and watch world class choir performances. Furthermore, time and again, the trips instill discipline and determination among our members in hoping to put up their best performances while rallying the choir together through work and play.
NOTABLE
ACHIEVEMENTS
The choir continues to achieve a high standard of choral performances, attaining a double Distinction at the past two Singapore Youth Festival Arts Presentations. In 2021, our IP choir was honoured to be selected as one of two choirs to perform for the SYF Finale video.

Over the years, we have also had the privilege to work with other choirs and musicians in the spirit of learning and performing as a larger music community while gracing the stage of some of Singapore's best performing arts venues. Some notable experiences in the past decade include performing with Margaret Chen, Grand Dame of Singapore's Organ Scene, at the Victoria Concert Hall as part of the 2015 VCH Organ Series. Our choristers also got to perform as part of the combined choir at the 2015 Singapore Choral Festival - 50 Songs for Singapore, and the 2017 Singapore Choral Youth Festival.
ONE WITH OUR COLLEGE
We proudly bear our college's name and support the college in its events and activities. From its Open Houses to College Day, the choir is ever ready to add vibrancy to these events through song. More recently, we were honoured to be selected as one the main performers at the college's 40th Anniversary Gala Dinner in 2017, bringing familiar sounds and tunes associated with Singapore such as hawking, ondeh ondehs and Kit Chan's National Day song Home to the attendees.
