Our Seed of Music
Established in 1977, the Temasek Junior College Choir is one that is rich in history. Over the years, it has created a place for aspiring singers to hone their choral music skills. TJ Choir also recognises the importance of forging a sense of community, alluding to its motto, “Blended in Voices, Bonded in Spirit”. The choir is well known to be home to a family of talented choristers who know how to achieve the balance between hard work and having fun, united by their passion for creating beautiful music.
New Roots, New Beginnings
Our Integrated Programme (IP) divsion of the choir was formed in 2013 when the school’s 6 year IP began. With a mission to spread the joy and passion of choral singing to others, it has grown rapidly from a small group of 6 singers to being 60-strong today and a prominent part of the TJC IP landscape.
Rooted in Song
The choir is versatile and engages in a wide repertoire of European and Asian pieces with songs from the Renaissance period to the twenty-first century. With the support of our college, the choir has been privileged to commission and debut choral pieces from several prominent composers, including Ko Matsushita, Americ Goh and Jennifer Tham. Alongside this, the choir supports the growth of its members' musical talents, creating opportunities for them to arrange and compose choral pieces for the choir to perform. It also takes pride to expand its members' experience through their staging and performance of musicals during its annual concert.
